Help Shape WAHC’s Future
If you are interested in being on the board please visit the Our People Page
WAHC is still in its organizational development stage, creating an opportunity for people to help shape the coalition while its programs are still developing. We are looking for committed volunteers who can consistently dedicate time and fully support the mission and approach outlined above. Anyone representing or working with WAHC should be prepared to carry that approach into how they engage with people, conduct the work, and help shape the coalition. Specific professional experience is not required.
One immediate need is volunteers to assist with podcast interviews. This work involves building relationships and trust, listening without judgment, and creating an environment where people feel comfortable speaking openly about their experiences. Interviews can be conducted on or off camera, based entirely on what the interviewee is comfortable with. The focus is on the individual, their voice, and what they want the community to understand about their experience.
We are also seeking people currently experiencing housing loss, or who have experienced it recently, in Wichita or Sedgwick County who are willing to be interviewed. Their experiences can provide critical insight into where systems and resources succeed, where they break down, and what could have made a meaningful difference.
The goal is not to extract a story for content, but to ensure the people most directly affected have an opportunity to shape how the community understands housing insecurity and how the coalition develops.
